Triangle Rowing Club (TRC) is a membership-based, youth rowing program located in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Our mission is to promote character, commitment, athleticism, and teamwork in youth through the sport of competitive rowing. We are proud to welcome any participant willing to work hard and compete. We focus on turning young people into athletes that are both physically strong and mentally tough while nurturing teamwork, leadership, and good sportsmanship.
Our team is open to students from 7th- 12th grade who make up six different squads: two middle school, two novice, and two varsity squads:
Middle School Girls/Middle School Boys: The middle school squads were formed to give 7th and 8th graders an opportunity to experience competitive rowing before committing to the time demands of novice and varsity. The practice schedule is less demanding and the squads compete in regattas one to two times per season against other middle school squads.
Novice Women/Novice Men: Novice refers to any high school athlete in their first year of competition, regardless of age or grade. These squads are considered the foundation of the team because athletes learn the stroke technique and race strategy. At regattas, novice squads race against other novice squads.
Varsity Women/Varsity Men: Athletes that complete one year of novice competition receive the classification of varsity. Varsity squads are comprised of varsity “A” boats (top boats) and varsity “B” boats (junior varsity boats).
Triangle Rowing Club is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, established in 2008 with the merging of local teams Raleigh Charter High School Crew and Wake Rowing.

Triangle Rowing Club (TRC) wants to make the sport of rowing more accessible to our community. In support of that goal, we will promote the sport of rowing through outreach programs and need-based financial aid.
Our TRC Financial Assistance fund is an important factor in promoting enrollment by awarding eligible families the monetary boost needed to bring rowing costs within their reach. The club benefits by extending this helping hand, so we earnestly encourage those in need to apply. You can rely on discrete and thoughtful consideration.
We offer Financial Assistance two times a year, once at the start of the Fall/Winter seasons and again at the start of the Spring/Summer seasons. All members of the TRC Rowing Club program are eligible to apply for Financial Assistance funds, which cover part of the seasonal fees. Previous rowing experience is not required.
Financial Assistance can range from 25% to 100% of the total season's fees. The TRC Financial Assistance Committee makes awards based primarily on financial need. In addition, without disclosing the applicant’s financial information, the Committee asks for comments from the coaching staff about the rower’s attitude, commitment, participation, and if the rower has participated in past seasons. Also, the parent/guardian of financial aid recipients must satisfy the standard TRC volunteer requirement to maintain eligibility.
The application materials and review process are completely confidential. Applications are read only by the TRC Financial Assistance Committee. All committee members are committed to maintaining the confidentiality of the application and the decision-making process.
NOTE: If you are applying for the TRC Tuition Reduction Scholarship, please wait until you receive a decision before signing up for the next TRC season. If you are approved you will be provided with a discount code that you will use during the registration process.
